GUIDELINES FOR SUMMER READING PROGRAM
June 6 – August 15, 2010
Only books may count toward awards in the Summer Reading Program. The exception to this will be items for the visually impaired.  Only books checked out and read between the dates of June 6 and August 15 will count toward awards. All reading slips should be returned to the Media Center by Sunday Night, August 15.  Books may come from any source as long as there is an identical copy in the Media Center. Children are strongly encouraged to read books on their reading level. The exception to this will be if a child (12 years old or under) reads to a younger child, then both children, with adult approval may count the book. Each person is responsible for obtaining, completing, and returning the reading slips. Reading slips should be returned to container on Circulation Desk. Please do not leave slips in books. Awards to be presented at the evening worship service on August 22. Incremental awards are chosen from baskets in the Media Center and should be selected no later than two weeks after the end of the Summer Reading Program. Parents should assist child in choosing incremental awards in the Media Center.
Awards are as follows:
1-4 books – certificate
5-9 books – certificate and choose one
 item from the 5 books basket
10-14 books – certificate and choose one item  from the 10 books basket
15-19 books – certificate and choose one item  from the 15 books basket
20+ books – certificate and ice cream
 certificate to be given on August 22.
After completing 20 books and qualifying for the ice cream award, each participant who continues to read and complete reading slips may choose an item from the appropriately marked basket for each additional 5 books read.  Only one ice cream award per participant will be given.
